Lotus and Bugatti? EB?

Are both Lotus cars and Bugatti cars made by the same manufacturer or does one company own the other.

I got confused when I looked up close at the Lotus Cars Symbol. Above the word “Lotus”, there are a few letters bunched up together. On the rear of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 are the letters “EB” back-to-back.

Not anywhere near the same company.

Lotus is a small company that builds street cars, race cars, and does race engineering and development. They’re in England as they have always been. The lettering on the logo are Colin Chapman’s initials.

Bugatti is owned by Volkswagen. You can read about them on Wikipedia. Their logo with the “EB” on it are the initials of the founder, Ettore Bugatti.

Long story short: Nope, not anymore… Bugatti used to own Lotus but declared bankruptcy in 1994.

    EDIT:
By the way, Bugatti is french and owned by Volkswagen (german). Lotus is british and owned by Proton (malaysian).
