A Look at the Changes in the V6 and 4-Cylinder Engines on the 2010 Mazda Tribute
With the 2009 model, the Mazda Tribute went through a drastic makeover that saw the sports utility vehicle change enough that the people at Mazda thought about giving it a new name. While the 2010 Mazda Tribute avoids any big changes by keeping the body and the interior intact, it does feature a rebooted engine type for both its 4-cylinder and V6 versions of the car.
For the 4-cylinder engine, the 2010 Mazda Tribute sees a couple of changes in comparison to the ‘09 version. The engine is now 2.5L, a change from the previous 2.3L. With this comes an increase of horsepower, topping out at 171 BHP. The better pull and quicker jump would seem to cause the gas mileage to take a hit, but the engineers at Mazda have made it so the fuel economy is increased by one mile per gallon, despite the increased horsepower, leaving the Mazda Tribute with a better engine without sacrificed gas efficiency.
The V6 version of the Mazda Tribute has seen various upgrades as well. Its engine receives a 40 horsepower increase bringing the power output to 240 HP. An increase in torque also results from the horsepower increase. Like its 4-cylinder counterpart, the V6 model of the 2010 Mazda Tribute sees a one mile per gallon increase, finding the perfect balance between power and fuel effectiveness.
In keeping the body and interior of the previous model of the Mazda Tribute intact for the 2010 version while tinkering with the engine, the engineers of Mazda have made a vehicle that is ideal for those who want a little more power, yet hope to save a bit on gas, a perfect combination in the changing automobile world.
