I would sayo on the wheeel since it folows the steering wheel out of courners and in corners. Even if the paddles are huge as on the Ferrari it is better to have them foilow you. Problem is if you get confused when steering moe than 90 degrees but that happens seldom on a track or active driving when you need to shft at the same time. And o n the M5 you always have the option of using the selector at the “old” place.

i see that theres some delay for the gear to be changed after the paddle is being pressed.
I never drove a car with this type gearbox, but in my opinion there should be no delay. Correct me if I am wrong.
